What to Expect

We are excited about your decision to be our guest at Progress Baptist Church. We know how it feels to visit a church for the first time, and we want to be as helpful as we can to make your experience a memorable one.

Our Church & Worship

We believe that true worship will have a Biblical balance of our heart (“spirit” in John 4) expressing praise to God for what He has done, adoring Him for Who He is, and declaring the TRUTH about Him to saint and sinner alike! Because when He is lifted up, He will draw all men unto Himself. (John 12:32)

Pastor Doug Raynes

On January 2, 2011, the Progress Baptist Church family extended the call to be pastor of the congregation, and another chapter of his life began. His passion is to build on the strong foundation laid by the founding pastor, Dr. Joe Cox, whose solid, Bible-based preaching is clearly reflected in the ministry. His desire is to preserve an “old-fashioned” commitment to Biblical preaching and worship that is still relevant in a day when evil is called good, and good evil. (Isaiah 5:20) His burden is for Progress Baptist to shine the light of the gospel into our community, our country, and around the world.

Doctrine & Beliefs

Our list of doctrinal beliefs as found in God’s word.

Church Covenant

Having been led, as we believe, by the Spirit of God, to receive the Lord Jesus Christ as our Saviour. And on the profession of our faith, having been baptized in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost. We do now, in the presence of God, angels, and this assembly, most solemnly and joyfully enter into covenant with one another, as one body in Christ.

Our History

Progress Baptist Church began meeting together in January 2002 at G&B Energy on N.C. 280. “We would go in, move out the gas logs and water heaters, carry in the organ, set up chairs and have service,” said the Rev. Joseph Cox, former pastor of the church.
