During this week, WGCR, a ministry of Anchor Baptist Church in Pisgah Forest, NC, will host its annual Share-a-Thon. WGCR is a sound, fundamental ministry that touches many lives here in the tri-state area, as well as around the world via the internet. It is an honor for Progress Baptist Church to support what God is doing through Christian radio on this station. Please pray for this ministry and for God’s provision throughout the week. In the Friday evening service, our pastor’s family will be singing, and Dr. David Gibbs will be preaching. Pastor Randy Barton’s burden for this service is an emphasis on the family, and we are praying for God to do a great work in many hearts that evening.
The church family is encouraged to pray for the Share-a-Thon for WKJV in Asheville, NC. This is a fundamental ministry that our church is honored to support. Christian radio touches many lives; oftentimes lives that we never see. Please remember this ministry during the week, and pray for God’s provision.
Immediately following the morning service, the Erwin family and all those who can join them will be leaving for Cardinal Care in Hendersonville. This is a weekly ministry for the Erwins, and each month many of the church family enjoy going along to provide special music and to minister to the residents there. Nursing homes are a great place to share the love of Christ! Please pray for this important ministry.
Sunday, February 26, 2012, will be a special day for Progress Baptist Church as we give our first annual “National Bible Publishing Month” offering. Bearing Precious Seed ministries, located in Milford, Ohio, promotes the month of February each year as a time for Bible-believing churches to receive special offerings dedicated to the publishing of God’s Word.
The Progress Baptist Church family has been receiving a coin offering for almost a year, and all of this money will be designated for the Bible-publishing offering. In addition, 50 or more coin folders, holding $5 in quarters each, were taken by the church family. (What a blessing it was to see our small Spanish congregation in Lancaster, SC, as they excitedly took their coin folders last week during our 3-day revival! When I told them one of the countries targeted for distribution in the coming year for Bearing Precious Seed Ministries was the country of Mexico, their smiles and gratitude were very touching!)
In addition to all of the coin offering given for this cause, we will have a “pass the plate” offering on Sunday morning the 26th. What a blessing to anticipate what God will allow our church family to be a part of in this great ministry! God’s Word is so powerful and effective, and we know that, “Faith cometh by hearing, and hearing by the Word!”
Bro. Jerry Sexton from Bearing Precious Seed will be with us on the morning of the 26th, and we are looking forward to a wonderful day in God’s house.
On Sunday night, February 26, we will have our monthly fellowship after the evening service. This month we are having an Italian feast! So break out the pasta! The Eric Cox family is making plans for the arrival of a little boy in March, so the ladies will be showering Mrs. Alysia and “Baby Cox” with gifts following the fellowship time. Everyone is invited to stay after the service and enjoy a great time of food and fellowship!
On Saturday, January 28, 2012, we will celebrate the 10th anniversary of the founding of Progress Baptist Church. Our service that day will begin at 4:00 P.M., and we will enjoy an afternoon of great preaching, singing, and fellowship. Brother Allen Morgan will preach for us first. Brother Morgan was Brother Joe Cox’s pastor when Bro. Joe announced his call to preach, and as a Godly grandfather and pastor, he has had a great influence in Brother Cox’s life. Next, we will hear from Bro. Barry Rackley from Rogersville, TN. God has used Brother Rackley greatly in the history of Progress Baptist Church, and we look forward to hearing what God has given him for this special day.
To close out our special service, Bro. Joe Cox, founding pastor of Progress Baptist will preach for us. We thank the Lord for the faithfulness of this dear man of God and his obedience to our Lord in the planting of this work. We are excited about having him and his family with us that day. Please come and be with us if at all possible. We are looking forward to a great time in the Lord, as we thank Him for His faithfulness over the past ten years.
This month’s nursing home service at Cardinal Care will be on January 29th, immediately after the morning service. The church family is invited to support this ministry if at all possible.
On Sunday night, January 15, the church family and our guests will enjoy a time of food and fellowship after the evening service. This month’s fellowship time will feature soups, stews, chili, and sandwiches. Invite someone to come with you, and let’s enjoy a good time together!
On Saturday, January 21, the Bible quiz team, Progress Voice, will participate in the monthly competition of the Piedmont Quizzing Association. Quizzing will begin at 2:00 P.M. at Community Baptist Church on Suber Road in Greer, SC.
On Sunday, December 25, we will hold two services, one at 10:30 A.M. and another at 5:00 P.M. At the conclusion of the evening service, we will observe the Lord’s Table. If you are looking for a Bible-believing church where you can worship on Christmas Day, we hope you will join us at Progress Baptist.
